No. If this is not using the Windows Media Center will not be possible. In addition, it will not be able to watch DVD movies through Media Center Extender to play and there are some restrictions on the admission of the contents in a receiver on the PC that will not play on an extender.
It is a bit more expensive, but you may be able to search for a cheap computer that greater flexibility would allow or diluent control.
